Itinerary
Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Delhi to Chamba (approx. 600 km, 12-13 hours), passing through stunning mountain landscapes. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, visit Bhuri Singh Museum, which showcases the art, culture, and history of Chamba through ancient paintings, sculptures, and artifacts. Later, visit Champavati Temple, an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, known for its exquisite stone carvings. After exploring the town, return to your hotel for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.
After breakfast, visit Laxmi Narayan Temple, the most famous temple in Chamba, built in the 10th century with beautiful Hindu architecture. Next, head to Rang Mahal, a unique palace combining Mughal and British architecture, now a museum housing Chamba’s rich heritage. In the afternoon, explore the Chamba Market, famous for its Chamba Rumal (hand-embroidered shawls), metal crafts, and wooden carvings. Later, visit Chamera Lake, a beautiful man-made lake surrounded by hills where you can enjoy boating and photography. Chamba is best visited from March to June (pleasant weather) and September to November (post-monsoon greenery). Winters (December to February) are best for snow lovers.
You can reach Chamba by Volvo bus, private cab, or flight (Gaggal Airport, 120 km from Chamba). The road journey from Delhi takes around 12-13 hours.
